Advice please. when manouvering my van on my driveway it gets stuck in the gravel - would it help if i changed to a jockey wheel with pnuematic tyre. Thanks
Excellent. I have just the same problem, and had wondered if pneumatic would help.
Fortunately the caravan is small, so I just put a bit more weight at the back, and lift the front end as I move it, but I shall know what to do when I change the jockey wheel.
If you do change to pneumatic check the quality of the inner tube. Mine was made down to a price - the outer casing bears the message " Made in China " - and perished after two years. Moving the 'van out or storage with a totally flat tyre was a work or art. I could, with frantic pumping, inflate the thing but it went flat again after about two yards - and there is not enough space to tow out of my storage pitch.
We store our Eriba on a bed of 1" gravel, and the old AL-KO "disk" wheel digs in straight away. So we fitted a pneumatic tyre and it really does work well - no digging in - but you do need to raise the front of the caravan a bit more (wheel has a larger diameter)
