Jumping coat hangers

Recently purchased a caravan with red dampers fitted , every trip out the coat hangers jump off the hanger rail,never ever had this experience with all my past vans that did not have dampers fitted.I would be interested in other peoples thoughts as to why this is happening. Tried putting the plastic pipe warmer round the hanger rail but found it very hard to place the coat hanger over the rail.
Can you purchase special coat hangers with individual clips to stop this .

special coat hangers.... Not required , just get the wife to load the wardrobe, she will pack so many of her own clothes in that the hangers will be jammed together and unable to move

We normally remove the hangers as we always remove all hanging garments as we think it is a bad idea to travel with costs hanging up in a wardrobe.

Well i have tried fitting the plastic water pipe cover over the wardobe hanging rail, only to find that the gap between the the top of the plastic was to close to the caravan ceiling to fit the clothes hanger , so have abanded that, now trying out a strip of memoury foam placed on the top of the awning rail (which is oval shaped) using the plastic ties to clamping both ends and one in the middle to keep the foam in place, find that we can place the coat hangers under the foam over the rail the foam keeping the coat hangers in place.
cannot wait for the next trip out to test it.

We have tried various solutions to your problem, but have found special coathangers that fold up when not in use, that actually go round the wardrobe rail. We obtained these from Jacksons of Old Arley, they advertise these on their web site. Hope this helps.

Why hang them up in the first place? Why not lay the clothes on one of the beds for travelling?
It lowers the centre of gravity also.

This may sound more complicated than it actually is, we always hang clothes up and once all in place whether lots for a 2 week trip or just a few bits for a weekend we never have a problem, once hung I use a long cable tie, when the rail is full it sometimes needs 2 or 3 linked together, and I pass this along the hangers so that it ties all of the tops together, I then use another couple of shorter ties which then go around the rail and round the cable ties linking the hangers together, takes less than a minute to tie it all together then a couple of seconds to snip the ties when we arrive on site, in 4 or 5 yrs of caravanning we've never had a single hanger jump of while towing.

I have used 15mm foam pipe insulator, cut to length. Cheap and works a treat.

Try putting an elastic band on the shank of the hook then hang on the rail then pull the elastic over the hook tapping it onto the real.

I appear to have gone through a timewarp as its 23.07 on Saturday 2nd November but the post in front of me and no doubt mine will show as tomorrow
I use 15mm pipe foam length over the top of the hangers with a hanger at each end over the foam
