Just a stop off

Hi All
Jus getting started on our route planning down to the med.

Can anyone tell me if I was to drive down away is there any where just to stop off for a few hours kip on a services somewhere that's safe to do so of course.. We're catching the 10 15 out of Dover P&O and arriving Calais at 00:45 .

I will be aving a good lie in so should be able to go about 2-3 hours.

thanks

oh forgot

We want to use none m/way roads where possible. But roads we can get speed on to keep the tolls down.

What roads have you used that were good?

thanks

Smiley - where on the Med are you heading? If it's to the Western End (Languedoc) then I would do Calais, Abbeville, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Orleans, Vierzon, (cross country towards St Pierrre le Moutier) Nevers, Moulins, Grannat, Riom, Clermont Ferrand, Millau, Montpellier - most of which can be done almost toll-free, and with only one overnight stop (Nevers, and further south depending on your ferry time)
If this is the way you're heading, the Aire de la Baie de Somme is lovely (and very safe) with great showers in the morning. Or Aire des Deux Caps, near Boulogne (which has some dedicated caravan/motorhome bays with hook-ups, water, etc). Both are fine - we've done them both over the last year.
Have a really great holiday!
