Kampa awning accessories

Hi

I have just purchased a Kampa 390 rally awning and am wondering whether I should also invest in

1. the monsoon poles
2. the awning tie down storm kit
3. the rear poles

Does anyopne have any views as to whether these are desirable / essential

Hi Andy.
We have the same as you and (in my opinion),the answer to all three of your questions would be ......yes.
I found that the monsoon poles helped to disperse the water from the roof very well.
The awning tie down kit certainly helped when we experienced bad winds on one trip last year.
Finally,the rear poles really helped to form an (almost) wind free gap between the awning and van.
Another usefull item I bought was (sorry i cant remember the proper name for them) was 2 little metal things that slide along the awning rail and have screws that tighten them to the rail to stop the awning from sliding along the awning rail when the wind is very strong.
Sorry if the last description was a little sketchy,but im sure someone will reply with a better explanation.

I use a pair of THESE

& leave one fastened in the rail all of the time, so that the next time our porch awning goes up it stops at the same place every time, I then slide the other one into the rail & fasten it tight up to the awning, as Adrian said it stops the awning being blown along the awning rail, well worth every penny IMO

You can get the cheaper ones, but they are prone to the screws seizing into the alloy slug that fits into the rail.....

Hi Andy, glad you have ordered the full set, you wont regret it, as you may have guessed I have the 390 and it has stood up in gale force winds mind you I do use the longer rock pegs in all types of ground.
One more tip, they can suffer from condensation inside so we tend to leave the top off the doors open to give a bit off air flow through the awning, use the net/fly screen to keep out any unwanted visitors it seems to help.
Also when you roll the blinds up roll them away/under themselves and not towards you as this can pool water from the condensation.
This tip was given to me on recent PC Woosie club meet by Woodlands Camper
Mind you if the sun shines this year you wont get any condensation

Great tips folks! The kampa 390 was recommended to us by the sales manager in our local caravan showroom. Good balance of quality and price he advised.
I too shall buy the extras.
