Kerb Weight of Ford Mondeo

I am looking to buy a Ford Mondeo TD LX 2.0 Diesel 5dr Hatch. i am unsure of the kerb weight i think it is 1496 if this is so am i allowed to pull roughly 1275.

Any help would be grateful.

You're right on both counts!

Not quite. The 1275kg would be the advisable maximum not what you are ultimately allowed to tow. The maximum permissible is actually a whopping 1800kg but this figure should, if at all, be used only for low-loader trailers not high sided caravans.

The new Mondeos are indeed hefty beasts. My LX estate weighs around 1540kgs. I tow a 1465kg caravan with no problems and I also tow a car transporter (carrying a Triumph Stag) with a total weight of 1750kgs and the Mondeo copes fantastically.

We tow with the 52 plate 2.0ltr tdci Zetec Mondeo weighing in at 1501 kg, we tow a series 5 Pageant Champagne that weighs 1350 loaded (that's 90% of the cars kerb weight) it tows like a dream, if you are going to buy a Mondeo get the Diesel it cost a little more but it worth the extra cash.

I'm pretty much the same - 03 plate 115bhp 2.0Tdci weighs 1505kgs and tows 1250kgs very nicely. Good economy too - approx 30mpg towing, 53 average solo.
