Kerbweight for a 2007 astra 1.9 Tdi sports hatch (150bhp)

Where can you get a difinitive answer for the kerb weight?

the spec in the brochure says 1343kg my handbook say's 1405 plus any extras like air con make it go up to 1448kg. My partner has a 2004 Xsara Picasso 2.0 hdi. There also seems a slight confusion on the kerbweight there. I'm looking at buying either the bailey ranger 470/4 (1179kg MTPLM) or 510/5 / avondale dart 545-4 (both 1240kg MTPLM) so either one will place us within the 85% and the 90% of kerbweight would this make much difference to the handling?

Because kerbweight is specific to each car, any published data can only be a rough indication. Variances of up to about 150kg over the lowest publshed figure are quite normal. (I have yet to come across any actual figure which is below the lowest published one).

I would challanege anyone to be able to tell the difference in the way an outfit at 90% handles compared to the same one at 85%, all other conditions being equal. Obviously, there is a limit to any further increase but the transition is very graudual.

For this reason, I would take any calculated weight ratio as a approximate guideline and about 3% either way is certainly not going to make any difference.
