I would also like to know how the Carens tows as we are on the verge of getting one. One thing that worries me though is how you perform a hill start with the handbrake system the car has.

Look at the posts on page 3. It's a pretty good tug with a strong torquey engine.

Regarding reversing and hill starts we don't have a problem with ours although I contunually go for the hand brake. You just operate the clutch to the biting position and then pull the leaver. Even the other half can manage it!!!!

Well, i've just been down to the loire valley for our 1st week away, and the carens towed like a dream. Bit disapointed with towing consumption. 600 miles there at a steady 60mph, quite hilly though. Got about 24 mpg, towing 1400kg Swift conqueror though.

Bur really stable, hill starts nothing to worry about, even on the ramp boarding the ferry. Changing my caravan now for a new one, which will be 1500kg and feel totally confident that it will perform pereftctly.
