Some of the pre face lift models suffered from premature transfeer box failure, not the gearbox you refer to. The majority that failed were within warranty and paid for by Kia.

When you see your Kia dealer tell them you are aware of the transfer box problem just to cover yourself.

Stiffenning gear changes can be caused by a number of things eg, failing clutch master or slave cylinder, a gearbox selector bearing siezing , or the syncro hubs sticking etc. A penny to a pound it's the clutch system which is easily fixed by your dealer.

Let us all know how you get on.

Cheers

Hi Ally

I agree with Alan's comments, my 2 year old XT has been an excellent tug (pre facelift) I had an issue with the transfer box after 4 months, Changed out by Kia and has been no bother ever since
