kia sorento insurance

I have bought a kia sorento and have it insured through direct line, they are insisting i send them a certificate that it has a thatcham approved alarm and immobiliser or it is not covered for theft--it doesnt as far as i can tell, been to dealer today and they say it is a problem with a few insurance companies so much so that he had the spec of the alarm fitted printed out SMARTRA,

who do you insure your sorrie with and do they require this?

will be changing insurance asap

I have a Sorento and am covered by National farmers union,I left Direct Line as they were more expensive and they charged me another

Our Sorento is insured with the CC. They do not ask for this we pay a good price and when we made a claim it was dealt with excellent service.

Our Sorento is currently with Marks & Spencer. Renewal in July so will look around again.

I hope Direct Line explained this warranty before you effected insurance with them? Find someone else and get your money back.

Cheers

Charlie,

I have just had the same problem, I am due to pick up my Sorrento tomorrow, Tesco insurance are insisting I send proof of the alarm system. I got Kia's no off the internet and rang them. Extremely helpfull guy took my details and the cars details, so he could send me a certificate of proof that the car has a factory fitted system.

Hope this helps

Regards Steve

Whilst I agree that LV were very good they insisted that a tracker should be fitted which made it uneconomic - we therefore switched to Saga who insisted on no such condition and had the benefit of unlimited travel in Europe.
I am with LV and I do not have to have TRACKER FITTED.
