Kia Sorento Seatbelt warning noise

I have an intermittent fault with my Kia Sorento. The seatbelt warning noise keeps coming on even when seatbelt is connected. Simply unclipping and reinserting does not work and the only way to stop it is to pull over and turn the engine off. It has already been back to Kia dealer 3 times and is still happenning. It is booked in again in 2 weeks, so can anybody suggest anything, or has had the same problem and resolved it. intermittent fault

Hi Michael

I also have a Sorento which I returned to the dealer for the same problem which they thought was a faulty seat belt socket for the buckle. This was replaced and I thought the fault was cured-----wrong!! I discovered the cure myself.

First of all, never put the car into gear before you put your seat belt on. For some reason the control unit for these electronic sensors does not recognise that the belt is clipped after it is in gear.....So remember....CLUNK,CLICK,THEN INTO GEAR. No further trouble...Enjoy your Sorento...We think ours is great.

You may have found a workable solution but I think you should persevere with your dealer to correct the fault. The seatbelt warning sound on my Sorento will silence when the seat belt is plugged in whilst in gear and underway.

Have you tried the Sorento forum web site, I know I saw something regarding this on there. The URL is: http://kiasorento.proboards46.com/

wiht our vw someone plugged a laptop in and disabled the waring altogether in about 5 seconds. Even though we normally wear seatbelts they are a pain when on site.

Sorento now been examined for fourth time by dealer. They still can't find anything wrong but it happenned again the next day. I did pull off in gear as Maureen suggested. But it doesn't happen every time I do that. They've suggested I keep a diary of when it happens and any othe factors.
