Hi Colin

I've got the old style Sedona. It's a great bus to tow with as it's so heavy!

However - it can be incredibly thirsty if you keep your foot on the gas too much. However, if you get up to speed and back your foot off so you're just maintaining speed (throttle virtually closed), you'll be surprised as to the mpg you can achieve.

My last run up to the lakes (a five hour run for me) resulted in me getting similiar mpg WITH the van on the back as we do WITHOUT the van on the back! Hoorah!

Like I said - you do have to monitor your right foot! On a much shorter run (driving into a headwind), I had to use the throttle much more and my mpg suffered big style!

A tip I picked up on here too is to open your sun-roof (on the 'tilt' selection) to act as a mini-wind-deflector.

It works!

Enjoy your new bus.

We have old style sedona-54 reg-and I agree with Mark Mac you have to be light footed,I tow a van with 1750Kg mptlw and you do not know its on the back.I usually tow with the cruise control on,it only injects enough diesel to keep up the set speed with the advantage of when going downhill it works as an engine brake.

I agree with the comments about being light of foot. However once after driving around sightseeing, in no hurry, just drifting along, I was surprised to get 40 M.P.G. Convinced my maths was at fault I kept a close watch on further consumption getting 36 when towing. Checking reports on Google I see someone claimed 45 M.P.G. What do others on this forum get ?

Hi

We tow with a 55 plate Sedonna - I totally agree with the other owners regarding the MPG, just remember to ease off the gas and enjoy the drive whilst towing and you will find no difference than when driving solo.

I personally find that this is the best tow car I have owned you just have to remember that you are towing!

Hi

I have a 05 plate Sedona, the second one Ive had,I tow a Compass Rallye which weighs in at 1900kgs and I get 29mpg and 42mpg solo. Before that I had a landcruiser,18mpg towing and 30mpg solo if I was lucky and not as comfortable. It is by far the best towcar Ive had and for the price in my opinion can not be beaten.
