HI Jo Anne

I have already replied to your other post, so much will apply to this answer as well, the L is much more like a lounge, not many people sit facing each other in their lounge at home,or do they, perhaps its just me that doesn't, the only down side to the L is well documented in that you need to get the table out each time you want to eat or have a snack, in practice we tend to leave the table in the awning and eat out there. The L does not really give you the option of 2 singles, but will still make up into a comfortable double bed in our van, although if you are making a bed at the front of our Senator you do need to carry an extra piece of bedding. As we use our van as a glorified 2 berth the L shaped front is only used as seats, and we have found it more comfortable and easier to relax in than we had expected.

Hi Jo-Anne. Our last 2 caravans have had a L shaped front and I would find it very difficult to go back to a parallel front. Very rarely do we pull out the bed to a double as the l shape is long enough - length and width - to use as 2 single beds. We have a side dinette but occasionally all 3 children come. The youngest sleeps on the long back cushions on the floor and there's still plenty of space to walk past. We find that it is much easier to sit around and regularly have 6 adults sitting in the front of our van (occasionally a young child as well). Hope this helps. Helen.

Hi Jo-Anne - have had 2 L shapped lounge vans and would not now have any other. However, with 2 kids in tow - as we used to have - I don't think I would have L-shape.

Hi Jo-anne

We also have an L shaped lounge in our Bailey Pageant Vendee, we love it, and with only one child, find it easy to make the longer side of the L shape into a single bed. The lounge area looks more spacious than with a parallel seat layout, but yes you do need to get the table out to eat comfortably. As you may or not be aware, our model is a fixed bed, laying across the rear of the van rather than fore and aft. This layout also allows for longer seats at the front and a proper full size mattress with no cut off at the corner.

Interestingly, Bailey have decided in their infinite wisdom, to abandon this layout in their new series 6 Pageant, ie no more L shaped lounges and no more across the van beds. I have been informed by a dealer, that this is going to be the trend with most manufacturers, we shall see. I personally am going to stick with this layout. Hope this helps........Glenn

We almost ordered an L shape lounge as they look more spacious, however after spending times in several friends vans who have L shapes we find it not so comfortable... if you're tall (5'6" and above) then sitting across the front means that you can't rest your head back and in some vans even sit with neck bent. Also 2 lying out isn't as comfy as on 2 long side seats! We also like being able to put our feet up on the opposite seat! It's all personal choice though!!
