Has anyone stayed in this area or on the La reserve site?

There appears to be lots of watersports available but what else is there in this area?, what's the weather like in August?

We have 10 yr old twin girls that like swimming and horse riding amongst other things and a 2 yr old girl.

Regards

Gary

Hi, We used to visit this part of the Landes area every year when our daughter was younger. The weather can be very hot but there can be rainy days as well. The whole area is geared to the euro family holiday. Most large sites have beaches on the fresh water lakes which are shallow and good for bathing and they will have swimming pools. There will be entertainment on site with childrens clubs etc.

There is not much to do in the way of site seeing it is a beach tyope holiday experience.

One site which we used tolike is Le Col Vert which is at Lac Leon which is a bit further down toward Biaritz.

We have stayed at Camping du Lac twice in the past 3 years.

The site is in the forest not within walking distance of any shops/town, thats about 5-7 mins in the car.

Its a quiet site out of season but with large pitches and good shower/toilet facilities, and a nice heated pool.

The lake is 5 mins walk the beach about 15 but it was easy to park so 3 mins in the car but again out of season. Town pleasant with all the shops/bars/restaurants you need.

You pay in advance on arrival for your stay and as we left 1 day early (our choice) in 2007 they left a credit for a night on the computer which was honoured when we returned in 2009 without prompting !

Hi, we've stayed at La Reserve a couple of times in statics and thoroughly enjoyed it there. We went both times in peak summer holidays and it didnt feel overly busy on site. There were touring pitches, but they seem to shrink year on year for the statics to take over, which was a shame for us when we purchased our tourer 2 years ago and couldn't get in as it was fully booked very early in the year.

The touring area is mostly under the cover of pine trees and close to the lake. The area is very nice, good beaches at Mimizan and Biscarosse. The 2 occasions we've been we had cracking weather and the most awesome thunderstorm one night - incredible! I would recommend this area and/or well as the park.
