Hi
I have had a 2008 HST Freelander for two years now, having changed from a P38 Range Rover.
I was disappointed at first as I loved my P38 but I changed because it was the only thing I have come across that drinks more than I do!! The 4.6ltr petrol engine was a killer. I changed jobs and the 20MPG doing 60 miles a day was unacceptable.
I used to tow a Bailey Pageant Champagne but have recently upgraded to a Pegasus S2 Bologna which is a twin axle and comes in with a MTPLM OF 1670KG. This weekend has been our first run out and have towed about 180 miles so far fully laiden.
The Freelander tows superbly. I was concerned and have been considering changing cars again and going back to a Range Rover but getting Diesel V8. My plans are now on hold...............Happy to stick with my Freelander for this season and probably next. I may even get another one instead of a Rangey. Have n o fear, the Freelander will be perfect for you. Don't however, get an old one, the new shape is light years ahead.
Hope this helps, although a bit late!!
