large electric front roof opening

the big roof light on top of our van opens and closes electrically it is fine when you press to open but judders a lot when closing has anyone any idea I have sprayed W D 40 the van is a Bessacarr 550

I dont think WD40 has much in the way of lubricating properties, it used for displacing damp and freeing rust,

try a good silicon polish, or awning rail lubricant.

Actually, WD40 is a decent lubricant, but for this type of application try some "tri-flow" which contains teflon and is a better and longer-lasting lubricant. Available in aerosols (but not cheap) so a doddle to use.
 
If roof opening system has a cable drive, it's probably be due to a kink in the cable somewhere, in which case lubrication is not going to help very much.
