LD Line Ferries

Hi, anybody out there with experience of using the LD lines ferry on the Portsmouth- La Harve route. Now that P & O have decided to give up the routes to La Harve and Cherbourg, Brittany ferries seem to be charging wehatever they like and offering declining service.

thanks in anticipation

Rick

Hi. We travelled with LD last June and have booked again for June and Sept this year. The prices are much better than Brittany but the service is more basic, less choice of restaurants etc. Because the ship currently used is an ex Kent crossing ship the number of cabins are limited so you need to book early. The times of crossings suit us fine but are limited compared to Brittany. The staff were polite and the food was fine and we had a cabin going out overnight and club class seats coming home. Overall I felt the saving which was in our case

Hi Rick, I totally agree with Andrew. We used LD Lines for the first time last year and are booked to go with them again this June.

Because they were substantially cheaper than Brittany we wondered what to expect, but we were pleasently surprised.

They have ordered a brand new ferry to be built with the option for another, first one should be ready for 2010.

Dave.
