Le Croix du Vieux Pont

We stayed at this site for a week in the Summer. Situated in the woods some pitches are 'open' (find your space!) and others are bordered. The site was empty all day and then, from 4pm filled up with Dutch families staying o/n on the way down south. The restaurant was fine. The site itself is very picturesque and quiet. The facilities were in good order. We will certainly use it again.

Just returned back from France, had 5 days in Le Croix, (with Grandson)---mixed feelings about this site---- plus side =good for families,--swimming pools very good,---facilites for kids good but some things were expensive----we took the bus into Paris one day (20euros each)) and on the other day we drove to Soisson and took the train in---giving us more time in the evening as the bus departs Paris for Le Croix at 1845

Heavy rain when we arrived at the site, could not get on to the grass, so had to pitch up on the hard standing for the car--had a meal in the restaurant---we all went for the beef bourguignon, which I would have given to my dog if he had been with us!!---so a big minus there. The chemical disposal point requires a GPS to find, I think there is only one for the whole site behind the reception---minus again,--I would imagine in october it would be much quieter----we had a pitch next to the road and had quite a few renderings from the pup dwellers on their way home late at night. --------- but the grandson really enjoyed it and it was his holiday-----
 
Whoops, apologies David - I've got the wrong Croix! was thinking of the Croix D'Arles. I have also visited Le Croix du Vieux Pont and I'm not sure I would go again! I have to say I would agree with Rob's views. It was wet when we went in May and so this may jaundice our views - a lot of water was laying around and people had to get towed off pitches!. The restaurant was good quality and good value and the staff friendly.

If you're a carp fisherman then you'll love it - the lakes are well stocked I hear.

Stayed here for 10 nights a couple of years ago. I thought it was a great site, and the kids loved it. Superb swimming pool, plenty for kids to do and only an hours drive from Euro Disney. Not to far from Paris, wasn't brave enough to drive so took the bus from the site. Not cheap, but well worth it, as Paris was a beautiful city to visit.

We didn't have the caravan at the time, so we were in one of the statics, so i didn't pay much attention to the sites for tourers. It was'nt all that busy though,(early April).

We cooked most nights. Not sure about the grub on site, but there is a friendly wee pub just down the road which was "cheap and cheerful"

We plan to go back with the tourer before the kids get too old, so if you do go i'll keep an eye out for your review!

P.S,the staff were all very friendly and helpful too Ithink it was a family run/owned site.
 
We've stopped there a couple of times and we really like it, though I'd echo the point made up thread that some of the pitches can get very wet. If I was going in October I'd ask to be allocated a hardstanding pitch. As other people have said, this site has plenty of facilities (pool, shop, restauarant, fishing, boating lake etc etc) which my kids adored.
