Hi all, I have a Peugeot 3008 1.6 active E Hdi S-E. 2014. I believe the max tow limit is only 1090kg (unsure because I don't have an owners manual) so what can I get. I've looked at the base camp but I think these might be to heavy, but freedom caravan might fit the bill? I'm looking for 2 berth 3 if possible but has to have a toilet/shower

Try looking at Trigano Silver 420DD. It’s a pop top with MTPLM of 1000kg with 250kg payload. I had one good quality, fits into a normal garage and doesn’t attract extra fees on autoroutes.

The link shows new ones but after around 2010-12 the MTPLM increased to above your limit which is low.

Welcome rob39 :) .

I guess that others will come up with suggestions for you, lightweight caravans are not my forte, check out the caravan reviews on here, there are quite a lot on lightweight caravans.

P.S. otherclive was in with a suggestion before I hit the 'submit' button :cheer: .

Looking for a 2 berth then there are Trigano 310 and another which are smaller than 420 DD. If you are looking at Basecamp prices then Burcroft near Northampton are main dealers and have newer models.
Campers and Leisure do older models which might give you a taster option.

This one above has over twice the payload compared to some heavier and far larger UK vans and all within 1000kg MTPLM.

Now thats a really sensible payload, I wish my Coachman had that amount. But then again we have a lot more room and a fixed bed. Horses for courses.

the answer to your dilemma is Hymer which combines quality and payload. But to maximise the latter you may have to get out of bed the other side :)

Just checked up, the bed would be on the same side, MPTL would be up by 300 kg and payload only by 55 kg. But I don't really like the inside, just don't show the boss, she might like it. :woohoo:

If you can live with a two berth the Lunar Ariva is an easy tow and probably the lightest conventional caravan but might be too small for you.

Have a look at the Elddis Xplore range. The 302 is less than 1000kg I think, but you can't buy one new. The 304 is Also very lightweight.. 1043 kg MPTLM. It's a 4 berth as well.
The Freedom caravans are nice little vans, but their construction method is a single skin; so when you ask if it is Grade 3 insulation, they tell you that they cannot be graded insulation wise.
Caravan magazine  have just run a feature on tiny tourers. There is a a video on you tube. Put Caravan TV tiny tourers into you tube search, you will find it. The Caravalair ( ? Spelling) looked like a sensible small van.
