hi emmy we were there last year, its a good site and you will not be disappointed. On the main site there are 11 fully serviced pitches and you are close to the toilet block which is spotless.

Hope this helps and come back to me with your recommendations or ones to avoid

Hi Stevie. Thanks for your reply. As for ones I would recommend, I really like Drumaheglis, in Ballymoney and Benone Tourist Complex outside Limavady. Both are well maintained, spotless washrooms, nice walks around the site etc. At the other end of the scale please avoid Castle Archdale in Fermanagh. Was there about two years ago. The toilets were filthy, the site was over crowded, no control on amount of cars at pitch, what way to pitch your van, showers dirty etc Don't know if it has improved in the last couple of years, but I for one will not being going to find out! What other parks are you fond of? What part of the country are you from? Emmy.

Hi emmy, I live 1 mile away from Drumaheglis and it is a good site.Other good sites up this way are Ballyness in Bushmills and Bush caravan park.We also go to forest sites our fav is Cookstown, good facilities and forest walks. The worst site we have been to was Silvercliffs in Ballycastle.

I agree with you about Castle Archdale it always overcrowded, when you are in Kesh call into Drumhoney for a look. It been recently done so the ground around the sites are still settling down but the facilities look good.

Hi Emmy and Stephen, I agree fully about Castle Archdale, woke up one morning to find a large tent pitched few feet from our caravan, its a pity though as we found the marina and walks around there lovely. Haven't been to Kesh yet like to hear what you think of site after holiday.

By the way may be wrong but think i might have been talking to you before regarding site at Ballymoney going there in July really looking forward to it. Before that we have trips to Gosford and Six mile water in Antrim (first time to both these sites, let me know if you have been and what you think.

Many regards Jenny

Hi jenny and welcome to the thread, yes i think we have posted to each other before.

Gosford is lovely, nice site and great walks, toilet blocks are looking a bit jaded the last time we where there but not the worst we've seen, busy at the weekends as usual, but look out for cyril the squirrel, lol. As for sixmilewater, i called in one day for a look, nice toilet block and pitches don't look to bad.The only downside i could see is that its open to the public and they might walk past your van, although there is a electric barrier in to the park.Plz come back with any recommendations or ones to avoid.

Good to know thanks for info Stephen. We seem to stay close to home for weekends Castlewellan is our favourite. Last year we went to Wicklow Redcross village great site kids loved it, although it does get very busy in July and August, We enjoyed the fact it was central to everywhere and we done quite alot of exploring the beautiful country side.

I'll let you know how we get on at Gosford go there next weekend for the Armagh Show so the kids should enjoy that.

many regards jenny

Hi jenny. We stayed at six mile water a couple of years ago. We were pitched right beside the electric gate stephen told you about so we were right at the site entrance. As stephen has said this is next to a public car park and walk way. It was a saturday night so you can imagine what we had to listen to all evening - little boy racers in their cars hand braking round the car park and doing who knows what while parked!! Our little boy was only about 8 months old at that time and could not sleep at all. It was also a wet stormy night which didnt help our moods!

To try and be a bit more optimistic, when we complained the next day the warden told us that they were hoping to get the car park closed off to the public at dusk sometime in the future. Don't know if this has happened or not as we haven't been back since. Might be worth a phone call to find out before you go there. Might save a sleepness night for you and your family!!

Thanks Emmy might just do that my kids would sleep threw almost anything but my friend if going to and she has a 1 year old wouldn't fancy having to be up with her all night. I hope it has done something about the car park as the kids are really looking forward to going we are going for the Viking show at shane 's castle.

Let you know how we get on.

Thanks Jenny

Hi jenny and stephen. Just got back from our weekend in Loaneden, and I would definitely recommend it. Each pitch has own mains water tap, waste point, rubbish bin, hook-up point. Toilet block is spotlessly clean. Owner/warden is very friendly (Mary). Worth a visit. Emmy.

Hi Emmy,

Interesting to read your comments re Castle Archdale. Stayed on it 4years ago and left early. It is in 2 different worlds- statics area which seems immacualate and the touring area which is the exact opposite. When we were there they had just opened a new toilet & shower block with mod cons such as motion sensor operated lights in cubicles. picture in the cubicle doing what comes naturally and suddenly your are darkness and have to start waving your hands around to put the light back on. A great pity as the site is in an lovely area and tremoundous potential, but I for one will never be back. Have never stayed on the site at Kesk but have heard very good reports from friends in N Ireland. Looked around the six Mile Water site in Antrim while we were there but did not like the openness as we were able to walk through it. Stayed at 4 sites in the south when we were over, the best being Adare and the other White Villa Farm in Killarnery which was smaller and more intimate than the other sites around Killarnery. Hope to come back again soon.

Off in the morning to www.caravanningfrance.com where we are doing holiday relief for 6 weeks. We are retired and will do one hours work each day in exchange for a free pitch with electric. We have been doing this for about 4 years now but this year we are staying in a Mobile home instead of taking our van with us so the journey will be easier. The roads in France are excellent to drive on and are about as busy as Ireland but a lot less busy than England. My favourite sites in N.I. are Ballyness at Bushmills and the lovely new site just opened at Belcoo called Rushin Park. Home end of July so retirement is'nt that bad!!

Hi Stephen, Just back from weekend at Gosford, weather fantastic, we got a great pitch room for my sister to put her tent up beside us. The Armagh show was on there and it was great day only fault i had was the toilets so we just used the caravan for the whole weekend, (thats what it there for)can't fault the place in any other way, we will be going back. I have heard good reports about Clare Glen What did you think of it?

Hi jenny

Had a great weekend at clare glen weather was brill. The Bangor division of the c&cc were there (10 vans)and they were a friendly bunch. Its a great wee site and we were glad the council have given the toilet block a makeover. We were also at the show on saturday and the toilets were in a bad way, they are not great at the best of times which is a pity because its a nice site.

On sunday night we stayed at Round Lake in Fivemiletown all by ourselves, but had to come home on monday.
