I am running a nissan x trail at present and a friend is getting rid of his Lr disco td5 and i have first shout on it, i have used it before and like the drive but what is worrying me is the running costs,what mpg should i expect towing a 1300kg van also does it fall into the higher road tax bracket,my heart is saying buy it but head is over ruling my decision what say you? ta Andrew.

I hada Series 2 LR Discovery with the TD5b engine. It was an excellent towcar, but at 3 yaers old it had to go as I could not bear the thought of owning it without the support of the LR warranty. In 4 yaers my Sorento has not had a thing go wrong.

The higher road tax only applies to new vehicles or those registered ithink from April 2006 so if older than this it will be exempt
