MARKER LIGHTS NOT WORKING

On My last trip away i noticed that the front and rear marker lights and side lights were not working, The brake and indicators however do work, I have checked the wires to the plug to make sure its making contact with the car.

Its a 1998 Swift fairway, The manual shows an electrical board with water pump/fanmaster/charging switches/FUSE BOARD ect.... however my swift has separate panels and switches around the caravan not the all in one electrical board, i cannot find a fuse board anywhere in my van.

Does anyone know where i will find it or suggest checks i can make to trace the cause???

The road light fuses are normally located under the front seat, where the cable enters the van.

There should be a 7 way fuse block.

I have now checked the fuse box and checked all the bulbs on the van too to see if a blown bulb was breaking the circuit.... evevything seems fine, not being that technical with electircs can anyone suggest any other checks to do or what could cause the sidelights and marker lights not to work????

have you checked the wiring in your plugs? Also check that the side lights of the tow vehicle are working, if they are not it could be a fuse in the car,but I would check the N socket on the caravan and car

thanks for your advice rick, I have used an electrical screwdriver to test the connections, when i tested the car the screwdirver flashed on two of pins for the indicators and the beep sounded, i however got nothing from the other pins, how many other pins should have power to them???

The most probable cause if all the fuses and bulbs are ok is going to be the plug itself seeing as other lights are working thereby eliminating earth problems.

Even if th eplug looks ok, I would cut it off and fit a new one to be absolutely certain of good connections.

The cost of a couple of pounds and 30 minutes will be well worth it.

As my previous post, are side lights working on the tow car? if so I think its the black pin 7 and brown pin 5 that are side lights there should be power on these but remember to have the lights on to check.

As Damien suggest for a couple of pound and half hour change the plugs, at least take them a part and check the connections where the grub screw are
