Mayday is specific to the CMHC and designed for caravans and motor homes. Check the club website to see if you have to be a member. Can't think that they wouldnt accept non members but the price would probably be higher. It is operated by Greenflag but you should check out the exact benefits of both against price. Things like max length may be different. We've got both cars covered by Mayday as you get a good price for the second vehicle.

Don't forget that Mayday is UK only. If you then want European cover the CMC offering is then Red Pennant ON TOP, .......which can become expensive.

I have Green Flag European( spelling) that gives me everything that the green flag Uk . Except that, take you to the site and back, but for another £20 worth it if you tour Europe. Red Pennent is the best for 6 months and health, in Europe. . But sorry diversing.

Mayday is specific to the CAMC and gives extra cover and no length limit if thar is relevant. Mayday will give you double recovery so if you break down on the way to site they will take you there and arrange for a repair there or if not possible tow you back after your stay. They will also pick up the car if you are off site and go back to the site to recover the caravan if needed.
If you go elsewhere do make sure caravan cover will include the caravan if it breaks down as many do not.

I have Greenflag via the Club and had call to use them yesterday.
The car wouldn't start and all the warning lights indicators etc were flashing , I called Greenflag who organised an engineer to come out but told me that I could not call them out again for the same problem in the next 28 days.
He duly arrived tried to start it, which failed so he connected his jump start thing and bingo it fired up , and he advised the battery was cream crackered . I told him I would go and get a new one straight away , off I went to Halfords to have one fitted , they took it off and before fitting a new one tested the old one and declared it as being ok with nothing wrong with it. Due to the 28 day thing I felt I had no choice to have the new one fitted in case it failed to start again . Even though still in guarantee they cant refund/replace as they say it is not faulty.
I have contacted Greenflag who are looking into it but I don't hold out much hope and look to be £130 down on the day.

I would get the old battery checked by an indy garage, particularity if the new battery is starting your motor everytime, something the old battery wouldn't do, so something was amiss.
After seeing what a mess Halfords made of fitting a headlight bulb to my lads Rover 75 a while back (failed an MOT because of it), I would be inclined to believe the Green flag man.

Have just checked the old battery with my multimeter which reads 12.64 ( they had 13.01 on Tuesday) and I can see the green status light.so it appears ok.
off topic living out in the sticks by a river we have from time to time rats if I put a wire on the batter and the other ends down the rat hole and they touched it would it be enough to kill or just scare them a bit !

I dought it, Rodents and Even Humans teeth do not conduct well.
Your battery has to be fully charged first. Then the discharge test. So strange for the Mayday man to know your battery is duff.. ?

Have just had a couple of phone calls from Greenflag/Mayday who are sending me a cheque for £130 for the battery I didn't need to buy because of what I was told by their engineer

That’s a good outcome.

Yes indeed a reasonable result in that they are paying for the battery I didn't need however given the battery was ok ,then what was the problem they didn't sort that so concerned it might recur

Might be worth taking it into a dealer or independent specialist to see if they can identity any error messages via the diagnostic sockets.

.......I like that outcome :)

My money is on the Greenflag engineer being correct.......your old battery does not hold a charge and is finished.
12.6 volts is only 50% charged after just a day or so off the vehicle........a good battery should hold it's charge better than that.

12.06 volts is a 50% charge, 12.6+ volts is fully charged

The cheque for £130 has just arrived , the battery is still showing a similar reading , just as a point the Greenflag never checked the battery at all just put his booster on and started it and said the battery was duff.

That was not good enough and I suspect Green Flag have taken the money from the contractor.

I would consider it very good . A new battery (should be a good one if it cost £130) AND an apparently still good battery to put to good use . :p :p

Possibly me not being clear enough. I did mean the performance of whoever Green Flag called out rather than what Green Flag did.
