Hi My pal is considering getting into caravanning, so I want to help him as much as I can,
His car is a Merc CLK coupe 550 AMG, (yr 2000) he reckons the kerbweight is around 1800kg, but as been told he cannot get a towbar,( towsure are quoting one on there website) & the car is not suitable,
Does anyone know different ??

Yes, most AMG models are not type approved for towing and the few that are are generally restricted to 750kg towload which makes them uninteresting as towcars for caravans. The reason for this is apparently thermal issues.
 
I think thermal issues relates to the tuned AMG engines cooling system and probably transmission cooling as well. Towing would overstretch the cooling system on the high powered drive train and cause over heating issues. You need
