i am wondering a mercedes c220 cdi estate,would it pull my hobby 540 uk caravan.Some say yes some say no.Now i am confused.the hobby laden is 1500 kg the car unladen is 1420 kg.HELP
 
Are you sure the kerweight of the car is only 1420kg or is it perhaps not the current model? The Mercedes Benz website quotes 1590kg for the manual and 1610kg for the automatic, which is significantly higher.

Will it tow? Yes, and legally, too (the towlaod limit is 1500kg). Whether you'll be happy with towing at around 100% weight ratio (
 
Its a 1999 year,What i don't understand is ,I only put a awning in my van along with a barbeque.Everything else goes in the car ie clothes,bikes on roof,a little bit of shopping,along with my family does thia alter the ratio.HELP
 
The weight ratio is always based on a worst case scenario, i.e. with the weight of the caravan right on top limit and the car at minimum weight. If, as you say, you put as much as possible into the car and relatively little in the caravan, the actual ratio will, of course, be much more favourable, but no-one is really interested in the actual figure as there is nothing to compare it with.
