What has happened to my original post on this subject with reference the "accident waiting to happen"?

These ovens are fitted at high level and are dangerous for a small person to use - scalding risk etc. My wife cannot see into any of the ovens in new vans we have recently looked at - Bailey, Ace & Coachman.

You might well ask, Ian. You're not the only person to have posts arbitrarily censored by the Mods.

Are they drunk with power, one wonders?

I think you will find its been qite wrongly deleted by the over zelous mods as have numerous other threads in the past.

Unfortunately there have been loads of threads on the microwave issue and the obvious danger these machines pose being at high level so thats probably why its been removed as a simple search will give results on the subject.

I think you need to look further down the 'General' listing Microwave ovens is still there.

Icemaker, I have been reviewing this forum form a number of years now, and I do recall a a point regarding the weight of a microwave at relatively high level and its possible affect on caravan stability. I can't recall a previous topic about the height of microwaves and accessibility.

The post about microwave ovens has not as far as I know attracted any moderating input, zealous or otherwise. I commented in the post myself because the microwave in our caravan isn't ideally positioned.

The original post has simply slipped down the list of topics and been replaced by more recent posts. Many caravanners are away at weekends (lucky so and so's) and so perhaps the members who might have added to the post are away.

there have been numerous over the past year alone john, the most recent one being in relation to coachman saying the unit must be removed before travel which resulted in a thread full of coments regarding the weight of the machine and the hazards of using it at such a height, all the usuall coments come up in every thread regarding this iussue which is why i would have thought it had been removed.

most of the threads admitedly start off as something simple and decend in to the "its such a stupid place to put it" discussion.

The other thread thats gone recently is the one i started a year or so back regarding a certain very poor insurer, the thread was kept up near the top as a warning to all but its now gone ! not even a search can find it.

Hello Icemaker,

For what ever reason I have not seen the postings about microwaves you refer to, which surprises me as I have taken a closeinterest in the threads of a technical nature.

The other point you raise regarding insurance, I did see, and whilst I understand your views regarding poor performance, I am also aware of why Haymarket had to review the postings on the matter.

Hi parksy, yes thats the one i mentioned above as a point of note that the subject had been done to death before which is why i imagine Ian's post on the allmost identical subject seems to have dissapeared.

Obviousley thats not the post regarding insurance which has allso dissapeared recently.

Hi Icemaker

I had a look back for the post about insurance and although it will be in the archive somewhere it can no longer be easily found from the forum.

The only time that we delete posts is if in our opinion, which might not be infallible, the post breaches forum etiquette. It's unlikely that a post about insurance would do this, and if any deletion happened the poster would be notified by email and usually an announcement would be made on the relevant thread.

I daresay that when (if) we get the promised new forum there will be a mechanism for holding threads permanently at the top of the page, as a 'sticky' but unfortunately on this forum as it now works unless a post is constantly added to it very soon dissapears into the mists of time. Theres nothing to stop anybody reviving a thread if they think that the information that they have might be useful to somebody later.

Hope that this helps to clear up the 'dissapearing threads mystery'

This quite often happens. Someone with an axe to grind, or wanting to reinforce a weak argument, registers a new ID and appears to have his/her argument supported.
