Dear all I just replaced my overrun brake damper - the symptoms were a load clunk when pulling away after braking - it was like the caravan brakes were stuck on . To test I pushed in the hitch head and it had lots of resistance which is correct - however the hitch head sprung back at speed and not slow and controlled - easy job to do and so happy it’s all back to normal at the start of the season - I followed these instructions

If I may expand -I found it easier just to get the old part out and get the serial number of the replacement- I wasted a day or so trying to find the correct damper by my caravan and hitch type - very frustrating . A small lesson learnt as I nearly ordered the wrong part. I will adopt this going forward with any non visible substantive parts.
