Has anyone been to either site? How good are the facilities? How good are the access roads? Which site would be best for the dog?

Thanks in advance

Went to Dornafield in October, the site was ok, the access was a bit touch and go. It was quite a long lane and I wouldn't like to meet another car/caravan coming the other way. Appart from that the site was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary really.

Haven't been to the other site you mention so can't comment.

Another site to consider is Ross Park, it is virtually next door to Dornafield but on the main road.

Hope this helps

Hi BK, weve staid at Dornafield, and it was very nice, dog field has had alot of dog poo on it so not everyone picks up, loos excelant site very good.

My parents staid at the minnows small and well kept right on the tow path for the grand western canal, brill for the dog. we live in tiverton so no need to stay there but we do walk past a great deal on the tow path with our dog.

Both sites recomended.

Have a look on the other caravan forum ccc lord B has done a site review for Dornafield.

We stayed at Minnows in 2004 for a few nights. Nice site and excellent walking as it is adjacent to the canal.

My only disappointment was a local haulier whose lorries passed the site en route to M5 and they started at 2 or 3 in the morning! Being a light sleeper I did find this a problem.

Hello Bk man, I don't know about Minnows but Dornafield comes highly recommended. There is a large lower area used for caravans and tents. This area seems to be better suited for young families. There are tennis courts here and at least one play area. Pitches are a good size and there is a community spirit here. There is another area for caravans set higher up. Even here pitches are level. I think fully serviced pitches can be had in both areas. The higher part of the site is more suited for people who want a little more peace and quiet and perhaps more privacy. there are two immaculate toilet blocks and the owners/wardens are very helpful and friendly. I know tahat this site gets a lot of repeat bookings. You would not be disappointed. Incidentally, a very good Indian restaaurant in Newton Abbot will deliver to the site. Handy when you need your Indian Fix! Ask at the reception for more details.
