William, as an observation I don't think it is completely clear from you original post that you already owned one. Perhaps Roger was just adding information that you had requested? (all comments greatly appreciated)

I've been towing with an elegance spec OUTLANDER 2.0d since September. very pleased with it so far but ride not as smooth as in my old Citroen C5 exclusive estate!; it does tend to pitch a little at low speeds but once moving is fine. I regulary get over 42 to the gallon solo on 30 / 40 mile runs, (driving with a feather touch and averaging 50mph on motorways have had uo to 53 mpg). I tow a new Abbey 215 GTS at the moment and get an average of 28 to 30 mpg on tow so am very pleased. I would imagine that if towing a twin axle you will have to use the gears quite a bit.Having had experience of the Citroen diesels over the past 10 years, if I was thinking of towing a twin axle I would be inclined to go for the 2.2 Citroen engined version as there is a lot more power;....... HOWEVER... mpg will be down and insurance class and Road tax go up a stage! I had been waiting for the C Crosser to come on the market when I realised that at that time you got a hell of a better spec with the Mitsu than the C.Crosser.I found a 3 month old demonstrator and saved about 5 grand over the equivelant citroen spec so guess I was lucky. Since then they have upgraded the spec on Outlander to include rear camera as on Citroen possibly there is not much difference in price now. Hope I havent bored you too much and that this info helps you in your choice!!
