I have been offered the opportunity from a distant relative to purchase a Jan 2006 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport 3.0 Elegance Auto. Its got all the bits - Aircon, Satnav, 10 disc CD auto changer,

Roof mounted DVD, Alarm & remote locking, Elect sunshine roof, Leather seats, etc. Still under manufacturers warranty & taxed until the end of the year. Asking around £10k.

Is this a good price? What are they like for towing? Any other info greatly appreciated - Anyone own one ??

Sounds like well below trade price - google Parkers for an acurate figure.

I towed with a mk111 Shogun 3.0 auto and the power was silky smooth and capable of dragging over 2.5 tonnes if needed!

I have never driven or towed with the Sport but it is said that they are truck like and cramped inside.

As they have a coil spring set up at the rear they will be more comfortable than their pickup counterpart the L100 but will share it's low roof and high seat combination so "cramped" means less headroom and cargo area height. This may not bother you unless you are about 6ft 6 tall and need to carry a washing machine upright.

Be prepared for a thirsty beast though, 25 mpg average is about all you can expect but if you are doing an average annual mileage and it is a cheap buy then it will be as good or better than say a Sorento or Santa Fe in running costs.

I have seen plenty of these as towcars so hopefully someone out there can come in with some actual towing experience.

Gooner. I tow with a 2006 2.5 TD Shogun Sport Warrior. My caravan weighs 1100 kg's and without a stabiliser it tows nicely. Yes it probably is heavy on fuel but in my opinion it's the price you pay for safety. David W is not far off the mark as in truck like etc with a low roof. I've banged my head a few times getting in the car.

All in all I would say it's a nice car, tows well, looks the part and I feel safe when towing. Although I would like a 3.2 (proper) Shogun.

Good Luck, Dan.

Thanks for the replies & I think, following some research, I'd come to the same conclusion David. Bit expensive for the year & the fact its done over 30,000 miles.

I'm sure its a nice tow but I think I'll give it a miss.

Thanks for the replies David W & Dan.
