Mondeo ST155 V Frontera RS Sport

Thinking of changing my current 2003 model Frontera RS Sport plus £6000 for a 2005 Mondeo ST 155,To tow my Buccaneer Elan MTPLM 1400 kgs.Your thoughts would be greatley appreciated.

Many Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy, I might be wrong, but I'm fairly sure I have read that Ford do not recommend towing with the ST. Best Wishes, George T.

What George has said seems to ring a bell with me. If I remember rightly its the exhaust arrangement on the ST which means the standard Mondeo towbar cannot be fitted.

Thanks again lads i rang my local ford dealer and it is the case that the ST is not compatable

Hi Andy

Are you thinking of the ST TDCI, as this is the 155bhp 2.2 TDCI?

It's the ST200 3.0 V6 that Ford say is not suitable for towing.

I can not comment on the Frontera as I've never driven one, however i can the Mondeo. I've owned the Estate ST tdci model for about a year now covered 49K miles and it has been a dream. Power, comfort and economy all fantastic. We bought a Sterling Europa 600 in the spring and we have had great holidays. The mondeo pulls with no problems the torque is massive and 6th gear at 60 on the motorways is easy.

I got a Witter detachable towbar fitted and this is nice a discreet when not in use.

I hope this is useful

Hi Andy. sorry forgot that bit 1599 MTPLM, and i made a typo it is the ST220 not ST200 sorry

How strange, We have just been looking at the mondeo 2.2 st tdci estate to replace our alhambra, looks a very nice vehicle but i need to try it for a while as it would have to be outstanding to convince me to change the alhambra.

There seems to be a lot of this model available at the moment as pre egistered models with about 10 to 50 miles on them for around
