Multi serviced pitches

As a 'born again' caravanner, I have not yet used one of the new-fangled (to me) fully serviced pitches. I know about the adapter for the aquarol, but would appreciate advice on how much extra waste hose it would be sensible to have. Obviously, pitches differ from site to site, so any general tips would be most welcome.

Hi Norman,

Like you I'm new to fully serviced pitches. I have the ball valve for the Aquaroll and as I also wasn't sure how much to get, I bought 5 metres of waste pipe. So far I could have got away with much less when on site, the drainage point being within a couple of feet from the outlet on the van. However at least I have plenty should I need it.

Nine times out of ten service pitches the waste is located near the wheels together with a tap and electrics.

We like them and always book them when available.

Hi Norman

We like the multi service pitches, but I have found the drain piping can be difficult to drain if you have a long run, I find the 32mm domestic piping is better, and I keep a few assorted lengths and connectors to use, a short length of grey pipe from your waste will connect via an adaptor to the 32mm pipe and you will get better drainage.

Regarding the waste pipe and what lenght,whilst in Germany the fellow next to us had his black waste pipes in i metre lenghts and each one fitted into the next , so really he could go from i-6 metres and as they were lightweight they packed well into his front locker. Never seen in UK though

Multi service pitches are great....BUT, in my opinion they are just far too expensive. We were quoted

Thanks for the additional info. The German system sounds good, but until some enterprising soul imports it I will make do with a couple of lengths of pipe and connectors.

It certainly is encouraging that continental prices are so reasonable - I have not caravanned outside UK since 1995 - and highlights the fact that in UK, where possible, forward planning is vital.
