nearside lights not working

hi i have a 2003 eldis firestorm which we store in france the problem we have is that when we stopped at a service station we noticed that none of the nearside lights were working this included the front light the rear top light and the main rear light although when my wife put her foot on the brakes that was ok when we did our pre checks they were ok thanks very much for any advise offered

The L.H.S. lights are powered via the black wire on Pin 7 (the centre pin) of the 12N plug/socket. Could possibly be just a bad connection, (you could try opening the contact points on the appropriate male pin to see if that works), but the best method of testing is use a meter between pin 7 and the return, pin 3.

Sometimes just unplugging and then re-pluging may do the job.

The most common fault is in the plug and socket in between the van and car.

If you look at the plug you will see the connections. These are brass and they are split into four sections. Widen these sections slightly with a screwdriver.

That will improve electrical connection and this should be your first port of call.

Incidentally, try not to wiggle the plug off. This action tends to close the contacts together resulting in poor contact.

Disconnect with a firm straight pull instead.
