Thought I would post this here to get a better response
smiley-wink.gif

Thinking of staying on there temporary site for two nights on the way back from Rivendale. Derbyshire.
Has any one stayed there?
Would imagine it to be a bit manic but as this would be our first visit, prepared to put up with that.
Shuttle to venue, marquee for evening entertainment.
£30.00 per night!!!! But not sure if that includes the entry fee.
Any one any thoughts?

Thanks for the replies folks.
Have decided on the basis of the responses not to stay at the NEC
Think we will do our first CS (C+CC) as we are not members of the CC
Thanks again

Just for the sake of balance: We have stayed on the temp site. Twice. If you are using it just to go to the nec and not expecting the usual "caravanning experience" i.e. sitting outside for a barbecue, enjoying the awning etc: If it is purely somewhere to kip while you do the show; then it is really OK. Quite a different experience in fact. Surprisingly not manic or noisy. There are toilets and a burger van and an entertainment (in the loosest sense of the word) tent. There is a shuttle bus straight to the halls or a 10 minute walk. Probably overpriced. It worked out OK for us.

Does not matter if you are not CC members you can still stay at heathcote, he has two sites one 5 van ClL and a large 20 van site overlooking the lake which is nothing to do with the CClub.

trust me one of the best small van sites in warwickshire and only £12 per night... we are local and visit at least once a month....

Checkout www.reindeerpark.co.uk it's adults only and there's real reindeer there. Is 5 miles from NEC so 10 mins in car. Its got fully service pitches, loo, shower, laundrette and pets by arrangement. Pitches look lovely. Don't know how much a night but lot less than cc temp site x

Reindeer Park is £16 per night inc ehu.
There are several very nice sites around the West Mids which would be ideally suited for a visit to the NEC, but the one thing to bear in mind when visiting the caravan show, rather than say, a concert which takes place in the evening, is the traffic which can be heavy.
If you are considering buying a major item such as a caravan or checking them out for a buy at some future stage you will need at least a couple of days to see what's on offer, to talk to the dealers and to compare which deal is best for you.
If it was me I'd stay at the onsite temporary park where you don't have to worry about traffic jams when trying to get into the NEC and you can pop back to your caravan to relax and have a cuppa if you get a bit worn out or you have a decision to consider.

Good advice however one bit of advice is not to buy from a dealer many miles away from your residence. This and other forums are littered with posts about people who bought from a dealer many miles away from their home to save a couple hundred only to find they have to tow the caravan back to the dealer every time for any warranty work. False economy!

Very true but there's nothing to stop anybody finding the best deal and checking whether a more local dealer will match it

Emmerson sent me to Heathcotelake february last year. Very pleasant owner, George, who has a well stocked fishing shop and two magnificent lakes. There is a decent dog walk that should raise your appetite for breakfast.
Plenty of transport nearby to get you to the NEC.
Good on site security too.

Yeah, but I asked you not to tell anyone about it!

It is a cracking little spot, been in the Moreton family for many years.. We use it every year for the Classic Car show in November, and usually make a longer stay of it.But don't tell anyone else or it will get too popular!!!!!!!

enjoy (or not) the experience.

Thought I made up my mind ealier today, Reindeer Park due to the better location just off the M42, but another couple of post are now turning me back to Heathcote.
Better make my mind up soon as they may already be booked up.

Kevin..... I had the same idea as you but probably not on the same day.
I am staying at Rivendale until the 16th....I would be at the NEC on the 17th.
Going to stay at CC&C Kingsbury Water Park Club site....10miles from NEC.

Hi if your thinking of Kingsbury water park for your grandson, something else he might love, if you leave the site and walk down the lane running the left hand side of the site you get to the lakes, follow the main path till you go through a underpass under the motorway, this leads you into a large country park as you continue forward you will come across a minature train station, they have minature steam and deisel trains carrying passengers on a route that must be over a mile long.
Its a small price but if you get a full ticket you can get off and on at any stop, plus when you get to the main station they also have an outdoor oo and narrow guage railway which is great to watch.
also Stops by a great play area which even has adult exercise eqipment if your feeling energetic and again another lake where you can hire row boats and peddalows.

Hope this helps
John
