Neighbour

I'll never understand my neighbour , he has recently started wheel-clamping his own caravan when he finds he has inadvertently parked it in his own drive! I wonder if he is a sadist , masochist or both?

We always clamp our caravan on our driveway. It was one of the questions asked when obtaining insurance cover.

My insurance also demands that a hitchlock and wheelclamp are fitted every time the van is stationary. The hitchlock even has to be fitted when the vans hitched to the car if left unnattended.

Good to see that most are taking note of the small print on the policy!

Tony - you may do well to have a good look at yours!!

Also can I suggest to all that as some companies in the event of theft say "prove that you applied all the anti theft devices" you take pictures of caravan on drive, with all clamps etc in place.

Does not prove that they were on at the time of the theft but an Insurance Company would then have to prove that they were not fitted RATHER than you having to prove they were!

With modern digital phones/cameras regular pictures can be taken to build up a "history".

I have noticed that some policies also state you must have a wheelclamp as well as a hitchlock fitted when on sites. Thankfully mine doesn't, only a hitchlock.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why a caravanner would think this was strange in the first place, as people have said, I would imagine ALL insurance companies stipulate this requirement as the bare minimum. Unless of course, Tony doesn't have his van insured.

The van without the wheel clamp will certainly be the one stolen before the van with one!

I think Tony was making a joke about wheelclampers(sadists) and this guys clamping his own vehicle (masochist)

Maybe a little deep for us caravanners(mentalist)

ps,I've got FOUR wheelclamps !!!!!

Brian (",)(exhibitionist)

Are nipple clamps a reliable deterrent? Because I've noticed some fresh faced dudes eyeing mine suspiciously.

No, but I have also got a Tracker,Microdots, hitchlock, chain around the axle ,leg locks, 2 Bulldog posts , 3 CCTV cameras and locked gates. Already had one van stolen so if they get this one it will be the first hard days work they've ever done.

And I STILL have to use a stabiliser!!!!

It's not nice having a caravan stolen. Someone broke into mine a while back to steal 1/2 a bottle of bacardi and a tube of smarties. I sat in the van for 3 nights after that with a multipack of mars bars in the window hoping they'd try again. No such luck though.
