If there is a series 7 coming out, then what about the Ranger update.

We love the look of the 540/6 but just cannot afford that at the moment, and with Bailey having such a small margin for the dealers can't get them down too much.
The Ranger has had a slight tweak for 2008. They now come with alloys as standard, plus I am sure the criticism of the kitchen being too high for some has been adressed - current display models seem lower than mine, although this might be an illusion as both my wife and I are tall. Not sure what other tweaks - I am happy enough with the spec of mine.

hi, i can confirm that bailey pageants will be increasing in width and style.

They will be doing the wyoming layout and that will be called limousin. Also they will be doing the carolina layout and that will be called bretagne.

The bodyshell will be bonded.

The provence goes from L shaped to parallel seating.

They will be on show at dealers from 1st june.

Hi Joanne

Dont know where you got such top secret info??? but really would love if is correct. Seen as you are in the know will the Bretagne be a single axle? We have a series 5 bretagne which we are very happy with but at the NEC show we loved the triple bunk idea in the carolina.

Senator too heavy and expensive, Ranger simply not as plush as pageant so Joanne joanne bring on the bretagne!!!!!!

brenda i will quote what it actually says " the pageants series 7 bretagne brings the ranger 540/6 triple bunk layout to the pageant range. The layout has a childrens bedroom, sleeping four at the back of the caravan, and is also available in a twin axel form as the senator carolina ".

so to me that reads as though it will be on a single axel. the picture of the layout does look smaller than the limousin and thats the twin axel.

i hope i have helped you and that its the layout you want.

It's all very well making the pageant wider and plusher but it's making the vans at the larger end of the scale less able to be towed by sensible family cars. We have a s6 provence towed by a estate passat tdi and it's as heavy as I'd want to go and as long. MPTLM 1420 length 24'1. If the provence gets bigger and heavier we'll be going back to a ranger 500/5 etc. I'll put the difference in price to a stabiliser and a inboard pump and still heavy money to spare.

Th weights of vans do seem to be creeping up on each new model year . We sold our 4x4 because we couldn't justify it, I won't buy another one because vans are getting heavier.

Hi Martin

Before we bought the Wyoming S6 we were really taken with the Pageant s6 range although we didn't like the Vendee as much as our S5 Vendee. We needed the extra room and width because of our two springer spaniels. Also as we travel a lot so we just fancied the extra comfort.

I suspect if the S7 Pageant had been available earlier this year our decision may have been much harder.

Personally I like towing with my Sorie and now we do not do any business travelling our annual mileage is relatively low. Thus , for us the extra fuel burn on the Sorie against say a Mondeo diesel isn't too important. Say I get 25mpg towing to the Ford's 35 mpg over 10k miles the extra fuel cost to me isn't that great.

The Pageant is still a clubman class caravan and I have to agree it is important Bailey keep a close eye on the weights. Like you I do fancy the new Honda but as we are semi retired I don't want to splash out more of my savings just yet. I think I may wait for the series 10 or 12. Now will that be a red or yellow caravan sir?

Cheers

Alan

Hi jo-anne you seem to be well informed on what appears to be a secret that Baileys wish to keep quite prior to the official launch day, are you giving ammo to their competitors.

After all what Baileys do all the other clones follow.

i think that bailey are always one step ahead of any other manu. They keep there weights down and dont skimp on anything. they are great value for money more affordable than any other manu's fleet and i think there customer service is second to none as Alan has stated on previous posts.

did you know that if you buy a new bailey from chipping sodbury caravans you dont pay a delivery charge.

I have to completely disagree - this forum is rapidly turning into some form of Bailey appreciation society.

We defected to Swift after two Bailey vans at the end of last year. The quality of our Swift compared to our previous Pageant is second to none.

In my personal experience Baileys customer service is non existant. We invested nearly

Hi Ian

If you look back on the last few weeks threads there have been more adverse comments about Swift products than anyone else.

You say "Bailey appreciation society..."

Well there's nothing stopping all those happy Swift ownwers saying something positive.

We all have to accept there will always be problems with individual caravans at sometime but I am sure you will have to agree the majority of Bailey owners seem satisfied.

As I have said before it is crucial, whatever make of caravan you buy, ensure you have a first class dedicated caring dealer.

I now ask again why we hear so little from non Bailey / Swift owners? Maybe their products are so good they do not warrant mention??

Cheers

Alan

We have an Abbey 620 which we're very happy with. Before that we bought an Abbey 495 which was written off in last summer's floods.

When we bought the 495 from the NEC show we spent a couple of days having a final look round all of the caravans on display after months of research at various dealerships.

Weight was never an issue because we already owned a 4x4 with no desire to change so in the end we narrowed our choice to the Abbey or Bailey series 6.

In the end the choice boiled down to whether or not the o/h liked the interior and she chose the Abbey but it could have gone either way.

Our dealers are very good and Swift responded to a question about waste pipe covers on another forum by sending a new set to me via Royal Mail and Kath or Andy from Swift usually respond to forum questions on this and other forums and Bailey have now begun to do the same.

What I'm saying is that imho both Swift and Bailey are leading manufacturers and which caravan you buy comes down to personal choice and experience so there is no Swift versus Bailey rivalry.

If I had to go out and buy a new caravan within the next few months I'd have a look at every conceivable make that I had the chance to see including the new series 7 and then decide.

We will be on our third bailey in a few weeks and have had only good quality vans with no problems.

Our dealer buckleys of mallow are fantastic and their service is prompt and to the point.

Bailey are a company that keep growing and changing and appear to be market leaders as opposed to followers and as long as they keep turning out good quality and value products ill KEEP buying them.

bottom line theres no better testimonial than a sayisfied customer and as been pointed out that "this forum is rapidly turning into some form of bailey appreciation society" i think that if you ask large group of people a question the vast majority will give you the right answer, so by and large the vast majority are normally right therefore there must be a good reason we the majority of people reccomend a bailey. SIMPLY PUT THEY ARE DAMM GOOD VANS. luke

Hi Luke

Well put. "Damm good vans" and a Damm good dealer makes us all happy bunnies.

I understand 1 in 3 new caravans sold is now a Bailey. That says something!

Interesting point made by Fab, that the series 6 pageant has not made the impact that was intended.

My previous van was a Pageant Imperial 1998, perfect condition only reason for selling was the fixed bed option.

Our original thoughts were for a replacement Pageant,we then had wind that Baileys were bringing out the series 5 Ranger, with several new ranges including a fixed bed .(this series has turned out to be a real winner for Baileys )

We saw the model 460/4 in a dealers in Peterborough and where immediately impressed with the internal layout and all the extras thet the previuos Rangers did not Have, the bonus was the lenght and weights where identical to our Pageant so no problem parking on our drive also no car change.

They then brought out the series 6 Pageant with a simular layout to the Ranger but with a radio /microwave /extract fan with the additional cost of

I'm on my fifth new Bailey. Why? Because, simply put, they are outstanding value for money, innovative (Indiana now copied by just about every maker)and well screwed together.

I have had Coachman, Abbey, Swift etc in the past and I have to say that Baileys Customer Service is second to none. Kelly at Bailey is a total star and Chipping Sodbury Caravans (my Dealer) are a delight to deal with.

We always look at just about every 'van on the market when we come to change .........but Bailey just seem to have everything right for us.

Our latest Series 6 Wyoming is well thought out and put together - witness some of the problems some of Swift's customers are experiencing with their

w ehave been happy with our two baileys and had a load of trouble with our swift, but the two posters from swift and baileys take a lot of interest and hopefully swift would have treated us a lot better now than they did,We would then have probably not looked around and swapped to Bailey who so far I cannot fault for value for money and attention to detail.

We have a 2001 Auvergne, my Missus has not found a subsequent years model that has lived up that one in her mind so has been reluctant to change, maybe this could be the WOW factor Bailey are looking to address: best forget the wallet when we go for a look.
