Hi

the new model had just arrived at my local dealers when I was there yesterday, so had a quick look, even before the sales team had seen it!

It looks the same length as the Indiana. It really is a compromise, but then, most vans are to some extent. The bedroom is excellent - island bed, nice and bright with a vanity unit in the corner. The toilet and shower are housed together - both are good-sixed with the shower being a full unit with a circular door.

That's the good bit as far as I am concerned. The living area seems very small with no flip over table, very limited work surface which also houses the sink and cooker. I suppose if the bed and bathroom are first priority, then its for you. I'll stick with my Burgundy....

Hi Ken,

What we had noticed about the Virginia,is the toilet opening directly opposite the kitchen area. However, haven't had chance to physically see it yet,so will wait to make judgement!!)

Is it an island fixed bed you want? or a fixed bed with a good living area and good kitchen?

The new Swift Challenger 540 has good alround space, fixed bed, one of the best kitchens I have seen, being the cook thats important.

There is plenty of room at the front of the van and lots of floor space...its worth a look

I had a look at the Virginia out of interest after seeing the ad in the magazine. We're very happy with our Burgundy we got in January!

We have just dropped our Oklahoma into the dealers this morning for its first service and while we were there we had a look around the vans in the showroom. The Virginia was one van which we spent some time in as it was not available when we ordered our current van. The caravan looks good in the magazines but like others have said the island bed comprises the space available for everthing else on a single axle, our opinion when you sit in the van is that the layout just does not seem to work. If an island bed is a priority I would look at the twin axle Louisiana where the layout works well. Also viewed the Pageant Series 6 as they had a Champagne and Burgundy in the showroom. These vans look as good as they do in the advertisement and apart from the narrower body seem to have a specification very close to the Senators. The new rooflights which you wind to open are a big improvement. If I was buying now I don't think I could justify the extra

I didn't like the Virginia as much as the Oklahoma which is lucky as we have the Oklahoma

There is no external access to the space under the fixed bed and there is no washbasin in the toilet compartment for personal hygiene after using the loo etc.

In the Oklahoma/Indiana you can close the sliding door to the bedroom end and have direct access to the loo/washbasin but in the Virginia you have to pass through the main body of the van/kitchen to get to the washbasin.
