is there anywhere i could get a replacement fridge for our caravan that is a bit cheaper than the camping stores

Thinnk you are wrong about the CORGI fitter. Touring caravans are exempt from the regulations concerning fitting gas equipment. However, don't disagree with the sentiment. Always best to get an expert to fit any gas or electrical appliance although a reputable caravan workshop should be safe enough.
