Yet another tow car needed after old car was stolen.

I have a bailey padgent 5 series provance with a mtplm of 1420kgs.I would like a pretty economical car both when solo and when towing.

I am undecided over which one to go for i have drawn up a short list this includes:- Kia sorrento 2.5crdi xs

Kia sedona 2.9 crdi le

Ford mondeo 1.9 tdi ghia

Audi A4 1.9 Tdi advant this one though is a bit close to limit with a max of 1600kgs.

If you have any more suggestions of a good tow car which you can recommend i would be gratefull. My budget is about £7500.

And also can you get a diesel LPG converted and how much.

Thans guys.

Basically no, perhaps the easiest analogy is that LPG is a spark ignition fuel - and diesel is compression ignition - so you can only convert petrol powered cars.

I believe it is technically possible to run a diesel engine on a mix containing a proportion of LPG - but it is a tricky proposition, and I have never heard of a kit being produced to do it for a car.

Many LPG conversion specialists now offer a Diesel LPG conversion. They have been developed within the last 5 years and claim a substantial power increase, smoother running and economy gains of 20-50%

The most common system injects gas just upstream of the turbo and the engine runs on a derv/LPG mix.

The main difference between petrol and diesel LPG engines is that the petrol engine will run entirely on gas wheras the diesel engine still requres derv but performance and economy is enhanced by introducing gas.

Cost of conversion and payback period is claimed to be the same and incidentally the green credentials are probably higher than any of the alternative fuels.
