New Towbar

Last week we collected our new car, a Skoda Octavia, on which we had had the garage fit a new towbar. A couple of days later, we decided to test the electrics when attached to the caravan. There was no problem with the electrics, but the towbar itself was very loose and took about 14 quarter turns to tighten one of the bolts!

My point is, I have tightened four of the bolts located on each chassis rail, but does anyone know if there are any other fixings that I should look for?

Take the car back to the dealers NOW. Don`t play with it just get it proffesionally sorted out.

Every bolt has a set torque down setting, if they have failed to do one bolt the rest may be just as bad

That doesn't sound very reassuring. If the garage has forgotten to tighten bolts, heaven only knows what else they may have forgotten. Perhaps they left out some important reinforcements or spacers, for example? For peace of mind, I'd have the whole installation checked by another, more competent, dealer.
