Newbie needing advice on electic/water

Good evening all,

I have just purchased a Knaus 650 Azur and a first time caravanner. It's all very exciting and me and my partner are very much looking forward to going away this weekend.

I just need some advice. When the electic is hooked up the sockets and fridge work but the lights and water don't. Is there something simple I should do to rectify this?

Also if the caravan isn't CRIS registered, how would I go about doing this? I have the VIN number.

Many thanks in advance 🙂

are you sure your caravan has 230volt lights, and water heater?

you may find the lights are 12volt only, and the water heater gas only?

Is the van new ?

You could have a look at this knaus pdf. File

Is there a switch high up on the wall as you come in the door marked 12v on/off with other switches on ?

It's 2001, there is no board that I can see on the wall. There is a box under one of the dinette seat that seems to have 3 fuses in it. Thanks for trying to assist. Wish the handbooks were in English :-(

If you have a scanner you can scan the page to your PC ( save as a pdf file ) then copy paste it into Free Language Translation German to English ( there is a max of 1200 caracters ) just keep copy pasting as req 😱)...........

Thank you very much for your help! I think that they pdf you posted explains that the lighting and water work off of 12 volt. So I'm assuming that means the battery needs to be attached. We're buying one tomorrow. Any advice on the best type of battery to get? What does life cycles mean?

Thanks again!

The battery that you need to buy is called a leisure battery and is a deep cycle battery.

This means that the battery can be charged and discharged more times than a normal lead / acid battery without damage to the plates inside.

There is a brief description of a caravans 12v system Here also on the Go Caravanning website
