Nissan Almera Tino

Hi Francis

My last towcar was a new 2002 Almera Tino 1.8 SE which I towed my Abbey 2 berth with very well. My caravan is only about 1000Kgs max so was well within the towing limits. The only real problem I had was with the grip getting off a wet pitch. Although front wheel drive coupled to sports type tyres, I think it was the smooth original fit sports tyres which were the problem. Have to say that my new 2005 C-Max 1.6 110 TDCI Zetec has been a far better drive/towcar - much more stable in winds but not as reliable as the Nissan.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply Mark. Curently using a Pug 806 to tow a 5 berth Abbey with a top weight of 1200 kgs. I've gone back to riding a motor bike instead of running 2 cars, and my wife's not to sure of driving the Pug.

hi francis we had an 1800 tino it was a little light on the front end in the wet we towed at about 90% and were very satisfied we returned about 33 to the gallon hope this helps. franklin

Hi We are soon collecting a Freedom 1st Class caravan which weighs 630kg and are towing with a Nissan Almera Se 1.5. We have been told by the towbar fitter that it is ok weight ratio but we have the sports tyres. Have got some yellow plastic strips which are supposed to let you get a grip but will this be enough or will we struggle to get lift off!
