Noisy Air Conditioning

Anybody else had the misfortune to be sited next to a camper with air conditioning on the go for 5 days without being switched off?
Just back from 3 weeks on a site at Lake Garda when the above happened. The couple had all the windows and door permanently closed and virtually lived in the camper. The constant noise from the air conditioning unit was quite disturbing on an an otherwise very peaceful site.
What do you think?

A point that has been discusse at some length, AC is both noisy and not particularly effective as the units are small limited by theavailable power.
