nose weight and jockey wheel

Hi we have a lunar chateau 400 and i am looking to change the jockey wheel.My hand book says the total user payload is 210kg should this be reflected in the jockey wheel dimensions? any ideas or advice would be great

No just buy a jockey wheel that fits your frame. There are the basic ones, higher load better quality ones pneumatic tyre and faux pneumatic tyre jockey wheels. A wide choice and price range.

I am not sure why you are linking payload with the abilities of the jockey wheel?
Our European caravans with few exceptions are built on chassis rated with noseweight carrying up to a maximum of 100kgs. I doubt the van identified, a modest 1100 kgs, is one of the exceptions, these tend to be the much heavier, larger vans.
The standard jockey wheel can well handle the bit higher loads this relates to when the van is off the tow ball.

which is precisely why i`m asking the question as i don`t understand the numbers posted on the jockey wheel details.I have now had this question answered and can comfortably go ahead and buy a replacement

just one further question please for advise, do i have to replace jockey wheel like for like or could I use another brand as long as its 48mm which is what the current Alko one is? thanks

There should be no problem using a different make as you say provided it uses the same shaft size, and has the same or better load capacity.

Recently we replaced our Alko jockey wheel with the far superior Kartt Jockey wheel. Easy change over.

Ditto..... Not only check the axle/shaft size but also the width of the bosses through which it goes i.e length of axle and bosses. Some were too wide to fit between the forks.

The van in question is a light weight model, I would be guarded to avoid buying a way more capable jockey wheel than the OPs usage needs; "weight" tends to follow over specifying things.
