But I'll start with Tow Car Two classics together. Has anyone ever seen a Mini towing.

We met a lad with a New Mini about two years ago at Houghton Mill, towing something not much bigger.

Coming back from Cornwall last summer we got overtaken by a Mini towing a large single axle van.
We generally stick to about 50 mph and they went past like we were parked up!

Yes I have seen an original Austin Mini towing a caravan. Sorry no pictures.

My father regularly towed an Enterprise dingy and Mirror folding tent trailer, not at the same time with Cooper S.

My parents and brother did a tour of Ireland, in a 1959 mini. They used a roof rack, but on the trip they needed more roof capacity, so he got a second roof rack and fitted it in front of the original overshooting windscreen and bonnet with a couple of poles to support the leading edge lashed to bumper over riders.

They got some funny looks from the ferry operators.

Incredible little cars five of us lads went in one camping in the Lakes for a long and very wet weekend in Langdale. No roof box but the boot was fully open and we all had our gear in the car on our laps and beneath our legs. Personal equivalent of air bags.

Only Mini I had was the pickup version. Sorry no pictures, but I am sure that it did have a towbar although I never towed with it. It was very economical and as we had fuel rationing at the time I was only allowed 4 gallons a month. An acquaintance and fellow countryman John Love became the first non-British racing driver to win the British Saloon Car Championship driving a Mini Cooper.

If I remember correctly Minis did not like rain very much as I think the distributor was in front of the engine and took the brunt of the water causing the car to stall?

The fix or that was a Marigold glove, over the distributor.

My first introduction to WD40 was when a kindly policeman sprayed the engine plugs, leads and distributor with it after it stopped dead when an oncoming car drenched it.

The Mini we got our son when he was eighteen and had passed his driving test enjoyed a weekend of fun away with his two friends, brought alot of good memories for him and pleasure but no pictures taken.

And remember the driver's seat warmer, if a previous owner had lost the battery cover. The seat springs shorted out on the battery terminals.

I am afraid I could be in t except we never had a mini. I have seen the old ones used for towing but the rules on tow bars was pretty vague at that time.

Ah I was talking about the Mini Van. Commuting from Milton Keynes to Great Yarmouth, in the 1980's.

In a Mini you felt every bump and pothole, but back in those days probably few potholes? On gravel roads they were fantastic! 👍 😆

They certainly were, my first car with a towbar was a Renault 4, the towbar was built and fitted by the local blacksmith. I regularly pulled a 500kg unbraked boat trailer with that and never had a problem, despite it only being an 850cc engine!

I use to own a Renault 4 never towed with it sounds like you had a lot of fun 👍
