I require a bit of advice regarding a jumper I have recently been given as a present. The jumper is a round kneck style and made by Berkertex. Every time I wear it I itch like mad. It is worn over a shirt and my wife has washed it thinking it could be covered with something during manufacture. It is as if there are spikes sticking through my shirt into my skin. Any advice or ideas to cure this as the jumper is a good fit and is smart in appearance.

Get your wife to where it with the same shirt on and see if does the same to her !

It might just be your sensitive side coming through ;-)

You could try wearing a latex top under it Colin ;-)

Apart from other silly ideas have you tried it with a different style of shirt to see if its to do with the weave of the shirts fabric.

Some sort of ellimination process would be my first move followed by charity shop and trip to M&S or another fine retailers.

Are you a man or a mouse?

JUST WEAR IT, and stop moaning like a girl!

Steve

PS, I would chuck it straight at the bin!

To those who have replied I would like to thank you for the constructive comments - to the others, words fail me, Sorry I am a little slow in replying to your question Wendy however the label states 70% Acrylic, 20% Wool and 10% Alpaca, whatever that is. Does this information help Wendy as you appear to be the only person concerned with my well being.

sounds like your allergic to alpacas [aren't they goats] try and find one to cuddle, and see if the same thing happens, if so i'd stay away from them the rest of your days if you can,

Sorry Colin, but my suggestion that you got your wife to try it on was by way of being caring and finding out if it was something that only effects you or is a fault that effect others.

Sorry I spoke ;-)

Jayne,

Alpacas are cousins of Llamas.Today's useless tip for learning !!!

There is a farm in the Lakes District where they rear them and also sell Alpaca products in their shop. The clothing is quite expensive so I have never worn anything with that sort of wool!!

Now I've heard it all - Jayne telling Colin to cuddle an Alpaca. Jayne, as Colin is a Welshman don't you think that the sheep will be upset and feel rejected ;O)

Don't worry Colin.

I can't wear wool aroung my neck the same thing happens I constantly keep pulling it away.

Nothing works for me I even soaked the wooly in comfort and didn't rinse, zilge. I threw the wooly away it was to unbearable.

Colin,

I would think it is the natural fibres in the jumper that are causing the irritation!

Get your good lady to wash it for you, that may relieve the itch, if not then I guess it's a donation for the charity shop. :O(

In reply to Lady Maureen's post re alpaccas, there are two farms near Penrith which breed them. The smaller of the two, at Salkeld ****, has a wonderful CCC cl at North **** farm. It's a regular pitch for us, even though it's 300 miles away. It is also handy as a stop-off for Scotland, as it's only 6 miles from J40 on the M6. Tell Philip I told you!

Hi Colin

I don't think I'd bother trying to wear it if I was you. Just hang it back up in the wardrobe and forget about it.

Bit off topic but.....

Theres a local farmshop/butchers just down the road from us (Hampshire) now keeping Llamas with a view to marketing their products.

Anyone for a LLama and kidney pie or maybe a Paruvian Pastie?
