Hi

We stayed at Goosewood last december so we could go shopping in York!! We had a lovely weekend. The site is very very good there is a small lake and the pitches are well spaced or at least they were in December! The shower/toilet block is immaculate and warm with piped music. The Clifton Moor park and ride is about 3 miles from the site but is ideal to get into York without taking the car. The shopping at that side of York is also very good with Clifton Moor and Monks Cross nearby. There is also a good leisure centre and swimming pool at Monks cross if you have children.

You might like to try the site at Pocklington. It is worth a stay just to experience the loo block - the most luxurious I have ever come across in over 40 years of camping and caravanning. Its about 20 minutes drive to the edge of York where you can link up with the best Park and Ride system in the country. The site is also ideal to access North York Moors, Yorkshire Wolds and Yorkshire coast as well as York itself.

Chris,

Stayed at both Goosewood and Rowntree Park, and love York.

Given the choice, I'd stay at Rowntree Park because you are an easy 10 minute walk into the City Centre, and in the evening, great pubs and restaurants in easy walking distance. The donwside is that Rowntree Park has a limited number of pitches and fills up quickly.

But the Park and Ride from Monks Cross is a good alternative.
