hi everybody hoping you can help a pair of caravan novices.

We have an elddis cyclone year 2000 and it is fitted with the old style carver crystal blue block water filter. we were wondering what our options where as these are not available any more.

1-can we open up the old filter and remove the inards (if so how)and then fit an inline filter?

2-is there a way to bypass the filter and fit an inline filter?

3-fit a conversion kit, what is the best type to fit and are they difficult to fit? and do I need to replace the pump as well?

thanks in advance

Hi Stephen i had this problem on my avondale wich was a 2000 model i changed the inlet housing to a truma ultraflow using a conversion kit from towsure part code TH15 for a white one or TH16 for a ivory colour one i went for ivory as my van was cream.

you get everything you need. you use your existing pump just swap the head that pushes into the side of the van.you get a new pistol connector and spade connectors to do this . i found it quite easy to swap as it comes with very easy to follow instructions. just make sure you seal the new housing to the side of the properly to stop any damp.

hope this helps

forgot to say go to www.towsure.co.uk and type TH15 in the search bar and it will bring it up with a pic so you can see what you get

I agree with Graham but you don't actually get everything you need?

The conversion kit does not have an in-built non-return valve like your old one, so you need to fit an in-line valve in the water pipe leading away from the housing just inside the van. you can though order ones of these to suit your pipe, either a 'push on fit valve' for semi rigid pipe or one suitable for hose and jubilee clips.

Also converting from your mk3 to the Ultraflow, and assuming you have semi rigid pipe, you will also need a push fit elbow as the ultraflow connection stem point straight out.

Thanks guys for all your help, I have now sucessfully fitted a truma ultraflow conversion kit with a non return valve and it has worked perfectly.

Also needed a new base plate for my whale kitchen tap and the customer services guy sent me one for free!

I have to say that all fellow caravaners I have come into contact with are a very friendly bunch!

Thanks again
