Husband has just bought this car as a replacement for our vectra. we tow a corona 524. Has he done the right thing?
thanks for reply Lee. Will take advicehi we have had our omega 2.5 auto for 6 years, we have towed a bailey 550/6 didnt know it was there, we now tow a bailey carolina we use the sport box if we need more power for the hills instead of kicking down find this much better as it will hold the gear longer towing the 550/6 we got 23/26 mpg with the carolina 18/22 much heavier van, car getting on now 1999 so we getting a santa fe hope you get as much pleasure as we did driving the omega lee
Thanks Steve, We had a run to Dawlish for the weekend not towing. Only problem on way back to Wales had a lot of missing which cleared after a miniute hopefully wont be an issue.Hello,
I towed with an S reg Omega Estate 2.5 auto for 7 years. A very stable towcar as already mentioned. It was quite thirsty though-I think it was doing about 20 mpg towing. Never had a problem towing. I did, when I bought the car, have an additional transmission oil cooler fitted to be on the safe side.
Any other questions please ask.
All the best
Steve Brookman
Thanks for info David, other than oil in the water are there any other symptoms to look for with head gaskets? As i said earlier we did have engine missing on way back from Dawlish which clearedwatch the temp guage closly on your first tow - it might stay on normal for everyday running but towing may find out a weakness.
My brothers needed a new rad which was only aparent after he started towing a boat. The V6 has a reputation for blowing head gaskets but this is probably because owners neglect the servicing and ignore early symptoms. Other than that should tow like a dream.
Oil in the water and water in the oil which can show as a white emulsion under the oil filler. Thanks for info David, other than oil in the water are there any other symptoms to look for with head gaskets? As i said earlier we did have engine missing on way back from Dawlish which cleared
