Hi Clockwork, You're all wound up!!LOL.

The real key issues here are one of space and dare I say it noise.

Personally once I have my rig all set up and the car parked at the side I doubt I would have much room for a second car, well not without encroaching onto the roadway. Those who park half on the roadway just make it more difficult for others to reverse into the opposite pitch.

As for noise I've already mentioned the selfish g-t who started his diesel engine at 6.45am to defrost his windows. Is that reasonably friendly unselfish behaviour? I think not.

If you park your second car on the pitch without causing an obstruction nor noise at unsociable hours please do so. If not please be kind enough to use the car park.

Well I'll cherish the email from ParkyParts@shotumail one of three forum moderators.

I made the mistake in thinking it was wind up, PC-Admin@PCForum with the site banner is a little to much for a leading magazines forum it would seem. LOL.

My point that was a little strong for some is that I and my much more charming and lovely better half have no interest in others outfits or how they go about their caravanning activities. Being individuals and making our own choices of how we tackle caravanning without others influencing us is a great part of the enjoyment we gain from our hobby.

I've been in to some other caravans on sites and have thought "how the heck do you live with this", it would be rude to comment on a hosts choice and if it works for them. Good luck, GREAT.

Sorry, but I still think a certain car is ugly and nothing like more expensive marque. LOL, But I'm very happy for anyone to bey what they desire.

I love the misuse of the word incrotch in the original post!! Should have been encroach - love to know what happens when people incrotch.
 
Well steven, im so glad you werent on the CC site next to us this week. We have 2 dogs, an awning, car and caravan, my mother and father came to visit for the day and as he is disabled I invited him to park his car on our pitch. I did read with interst the article on 2 cars on pitch but also noted the 3m rule must still be in place.

Our 2 cars the caravan awning and dogs and 6 adults were all inside our paid up domain on the hard standing as instructed by the wardens upon arrival.

You see Steven there are conciderate people and inconciderste people in this world, and although some people like you tent to put types of people in little boxes depending on what they wear, how old their caravan is,how many dogs they got, how many kids they got, if they use satalite and so the list goes on.

You see unless you let up a little and see how it goes you will not enjoy your holiday in fear of being disterbed or ransacked by these so called people who arnt as good as you.

Live and let live unless they misbehave, then seek out the warden, its their job to deal with these people not yours.
 
Why are the majority of people so pre occupied with what everyone else is doing and complaining before there is something to complain about.

If someone wants to park two cars on their pitch then that is their business and unless it is causing an obstruction to others what is the problem? The same goes for anything that unless it is causing a nuisance to others it is no one else's concern.

I don't mind what people on the next pitch do or have as long as consideration is shown and in my opinion if consideration is shown problems don't arise.

I'm in agreement with Trucker on this. Live and Let live, unless it's causing a problem.
 
I remember when staying on a dutch site afew years ago you had to leave your car at the site car park during your stay, the only exception was if any of your party were disabled.
 
Shouldn't the visitors car park be just that, for visitors and what happens when that is full, on a lot of the cc sites the car parks only have a limited number of spaces.
 
I've been a member of the CC for a number of years but only to take advantage of the excelent CL network. I've never stayed on a CC site and reading this thread plus the one about deposits and people booking sites for the whole year in advance I don't plan to change. I caravan for an easy life.
 
I think in the bigger picture very few people take 2 cars to a caravan site.If they do there is probably a good reason for it- be it school holidays or self employed people.

I don't really think it is problem - it is only since the CC mentioned the policy that suddenly there are issues with it!!

Let me explain.

I've done all the kids thing many years ago. When away I like to have a bit of a lie in. BUT when some selfish a---eh--e starts his diesel engine at 6.45am and leaves it running for 20 minutes to defrost his windows, I am not a happy bunny! Especially when his car is next to my bedroom window. See previous posts above. Also apart from parking the 2nd car off road, I have no problem.

Yes I have also done the kids thing. You would think that when they grow up that would be the end of them encroching on your space. However not so. My lad is deaf and has 2 kids. He is divorced. The only time they have a holiday is when they come away with us in the summer holidays. We choose sites that are kid friendly and near the sea. Inevitibly they are crowded and noisy. We bring 2 cars for obvious reasons. We keep strictly to our pitch. It gets a bit tight on some sites but we put up with it for the sake of the grandchildren. When we go away ourselves then we choose cls. As had been said previously there are some selfish people. Be cool.

If UK sites had a no go period between 7.30am and 9pm or 10pm many noise problems and complaints would be solved.

Those who go out in the evening or want to leave early morning should be parked in a reception area parking lot.

Not quite the norm. This guys wife was on holiday an dhe was going to work. Hence they had two cars an dhence he had to get up early; earlier than I wanted!

On one of the cls we visit, usually once a year.

The early riser wakes us up, around 6-30am.

He goes to work.

Sometimes hes on site, sometimes not.

That is just part and parcel of touring.

No more annoying than the early fisherman, or the late night/early morning drunk!

Or the loose roaming dog!

The annoying kids sent away from there own van to play?
 
So what exactly are you complaining about Alan, the fact that he woke you by running his car or the fact that there were two cars on the pitch or just complaining in general.

You are using the wrong sites.

Avoid coastal sites.

Use CLs.

Use adults only. i rarely have problems.

I hate closly parked vans surrounded by cars. So i have found sites that suit use. There are some great sites if you only look. I have stopped giving out my best sites, all that happened is they became too popular, and got spolit.

Isn't it strange when you are on a 1 acre CL site on your own, and you go out to return to find another van sited very close to you - it's very annoying when there is so much more space they could use.

At the end of the day though it is so much easier to move a caravan to another part of the field than a tent. I remember when we had enjoyed a camping holiday in Cornwall for the 1st week and then a new neighbour pitched their tent so that the guy ropes came across ours. They went out every night and left their kids to run wild and have tv on very loud etc. etc. The site management were not interested as they were part of a large party who came every year and these campers had no intention of moving. This persuaded us to buy our first caravan and have not looked back since (30 years + now).

If you ever try caravanning on the continent some (certainly not all) sites are very tight for room and you can struggle to get caravan and awning on your pitch let alone 1 car. In Spain, several years ago now, we had to get the site owners to move 8 caravans so we could leave our pitch. This was high season though. Fire hazards did not exist then!!

Apart from allowing 2 cars for 2009 the C.C. also state that there must be at least 3 metres of clear space between outfits whether an outfit is 1 car, caravan and awning or 2 cars, caravan, awning and pup tent and windbreak so I believe that there should be no encroaching on another pitch

Do many caravanners really believe that it is acceptable to wake others at 6.30 or 7.30 am on site?

My wife joins me at sites and if she is leaving early in the morning her car is parked away from others.

If our continental rellies at the other end of the tunnel can manage to respect that other caravanners and campers are on holiday and want a peaceful time and a lie in, is that concept really alien to caravanners on UK CC or any other site?

Does the number of cars, children, dogs or toys matter providing others space an sleeping pattern is respected and given consideration.

If neighbours at home left an engine running at 6.30am I would have words with them. As a paying guest on a camping ground what are management thinking of if auto or other noise is disturbing others early in the morning or late at night.
 
Agree with Steven and Alan that two cars on a very small plot of land alongside caravan, awning and 3 miles of windbreaks sometimes indicates that your neighbour may not be there for a quite break like yourself. Not always of course by any means.

I guess it's all about common courtesy and personal standards and not really about the number of cars.

I remember the days when Mum and Dad made us boys whisper in the tent after dark so as not to disturb the other campers, generally sites were quiet then, bit I'm afraid nowadays times have moved on and general coutessy is a thing of the past.

People who consider it acceptable to make any unnecessary noise on a camp site at 6:30am where others have paid hard earned cash for their quiet break should be taken to task by the site owner / warden. If that means banning car movements between certain times, so be it. The more rules the better if it maintains a standard.

I'd prefer to see the second vehicle consigned to a parking area and if no parking area available then no second vehicle allowed.

This very rule was imposed on us at 2 CC sites last year as well as a commercial site and at a Forest holidays site the year before when we had visitors. It caused us no problems what so ever and helped stop the site resemble an NCP car park.
 
I don't mind being woken early when I'm away in the caravan. I thank my lucky stars it's not my alarm clock going off at 5 a.m. telling me to get up for work. I snuggle down under the duvet with Mrs. Chrisbee and count my blessings that it's not me out there running around at silly o'clock.
