Only CAMC gave me a quote on new van

Have been trying to get quotes today on my new Elddiss Affinity 574 and no company apart from CAMC would insure it. I see much more valuable outfits when I am on my travels so how are those owners insuring them?
Cover required:
to replace 'van and equipment (including awning and security devices) would be £34K
to replace contents £1000
stored in CAMC compound
20 years experience and no claims
Alko Wheel lock and hitchlock

Last year I struggled at 35K as the caravan is kept at home

CAMC were one of the few to quote, I just hope they don't ramp up the price this year.

I had no problems getting quotes for New for old on our 2013 Coachman, Replacement cost of 36k, but very high quotes from CCC and CAMc ie £600 so went for market price. £260

I’m still with CAMC, 15 years on but only market value. With a brand new caravan I can understand your sensible desire to have the correct insurance in place.

Look to the specialists who are not on “compare sites”. There a number of good ones.

Be very careful to fully understand ALL the security requirements.Adhere to them like glue.
I have to say the two Clubs Insurance covers are second to none, less demanding in most areas, and have a good reputation in handling claims sensibly.
Others will take your money and then do their best not to pay a claim because of a “small print “breach.
Sadly you get what you pay for today. Location of home and storage plays a big part too.

That probably explains why only CMHC quoted you for insurance.

Our caravan is new for old insure for over £40k no issue, but we are on a CASSOA Storage site. As you are storing on a CAMC storage site, you will need to phone as Online quotes will be refused unless you also have ALKO secure locks and perhaps a tracker. No wheel locks normally means no insurance. CAMC are not very competitive with their Caravan Cover quotes. Your choice.

We are insured with Caravanguard for about £100 less than what CAMC wanted to charge on the renewal.

Absolutely no problem although they did require a wheel clamp, hitch lock and another security device from a choice. Far cheaper than CAMH and they rang at renewal as well as writing to check on what we needed for the next year.
We have now got leg locks as well.
If others cannot insure you they must be losing large amounts of business, as yours is fairly typical of what I can see in the storage and on site.

Both of the main clubs quoted me for our 2013 Coachman, new for old, and we are not on a Cassoa site, private storage site, .
I wonder if the insurers have a list of the sites and number of thefts from them.?

Not weird at all. Yours is a new high value Elddis on probably and new for old policy whereas others maybe older caravans of less value. Insurers may not be aware what a CAMC storage site is and maybe a verbal communication would be better. Seems silly, but try and explain that CAMC stands for "Caravan and Motorhome Club" as that may help.

I may be mistaken, but with CaravanGuard I think they like a tracker on a caravan valued at over £30k? Have to tried Towergate?

Receive a email from caravan guard your caravan due for renewal we cancelled with them last july So i rang them they have made a note on file .

It is Strathclyde Park which is CASSOA Gold and looks very secure. I thought all their sites had CASSOA ratings. The ones I have seen generally look very good although looking at their information only a few do have gold status.
